Jay Z says he was hurt by remarks made on stage by Kanye, but that his song Kill Jay Z is not about his one-time collaborator.
JAY Z has said his latest song is not aimed at Kanye West.
In an interview with Rap Radar, the rapper spoke about allegations that his song Kill Jay Z is directed at his one-time collaborator.
The track, from Jay Z’s latest album 4:44, features the lyrics: “You gave him 20 million without blinkin’. He gave you 20 minutes on stage, what was he thinkin’?”
It has been suggested the lyrics allude to West’s televised stage rant last year, in which he took aim at Jay Z and his wife Beyonce, saying he was “hurt” because their children never played together.
“It’s not even about a Kanye diss,” Jay Z told Rap Radar. “It’s not a diss, I’m talking to myself the whole time.”
In the interview, which was broadcast over the weekend on Jay Z’s streaming platform, Tidal, the rapper explained he “got hurt because this person was talking about you on stage”.
“But what really hurt me was, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it,” he said.
“Kanye’s my little brother. He’s talked about me 100 times. He made a song called Big Brother. We’ve gotten past bigger issues. But you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me. That’s a real, real problem. And he knows it’s a problem.”
The rapper also spoke about 2014 reports that Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles attacked him in a lift.
“We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we’ve been cool,” he said.
“She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.” –news.sky.com
